Chiropractic Physician

Dr. Melissa is an Idaho native, born and raised in the small northern town of Priest River, Idaho. As a student-athlete growing up, she quickly attained an intense passion for health and exercise early on that guided her to her career path. After attending the University of Idaho in Moscow where she graduated with her BS in Food and Nutrition Science, she moved to San Jose, CA to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic where she earned her Doctorate and became a Chiropractic Physician. Dr. Melissa has acquired a truly immense appreciation for the outdoors and being in nature over the years living in the Pacific Northwest. “There is something so calm and sanctioned about being in nature and away from the chaos of everyday life.” Dr. Melissa enjoys camping, hiking, boating, summer and winter sports, traveling, and trying new things. She is an avid Insanity® workout junkie and has retained her ongoing passion of exercise and health. This passion has driven her to become a dedicated professional when it comes to patient care – not only to help heal others, but to help others better heal themselves.

Chiropractic care is a safe, non-invasive form of healthcare that is centered around mobilizing the spine and other joints of the body in order to restore function, mobility, and proper nervous system connections. Chiropractic care may treat a wide variety of conditions including back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, sciatica, menstrual cramps, and so much more! Dr. Melissa uses some form of soft tissue therapy to help your muscles relax before an adjustment.

Shockwave therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical procedure that uses a wand-like device emitting high frequency sound waves. These waves aide in the promotion of new blood vessel growth, tissue regeneration, collagen formation, and in the the restoration of healthy nerve function. Shockwave treats many types of conditions. Among the most common include plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, calcifications, hip pain, heel spurs, trigger points, and even erectile dysfunction.

Rehabilitation is a crucial part of recovery and healing after an injury or surgery. It involves a combination of stretches and exercises introduced at different phases to help your body properly recover and heal. Dr. Melissa’s first love is exercise and as she’s successfully rehabbed her own injuries, she has grown a passion to want to help others to do the same.

Soft tissues surround, support, and connect other tissues in the body. They include tissues like muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fat. Trigger points are painful nodules in the taut bands of muscle fascia. They are usually palpable and tender when pressed on. Releasing these tissues can help to reduce muscle pain and tension, increase range of motion and flexibility, improve circulation, and even reduce stress.
