Common Questions:

What is Visceral Manipulation?

Visceral Manipulation (VM) is a manual therapy technique that assesses and treats the structural relationships and motion dynamics between organs and their attachments to the musculoskeletal system and the fascial network. The body as a whole as well as each individual part requires full and free motion to function optimally. Motion in the viscera can become diminished due to poor posture, pain, adhesions from inflammation and surgery, scars, injury, among other causes. VM uses gentle forces applied in a precise way to mobilize the structures underneath the therapist’s hands in order to potentially restore structural integrity and organ function.

What is Nutrigenomics?

Each person is uniquely different. For the best possible outcomes, solutions need to be tailored to the individual not to a population. This is where Personalized Nutrition comes in with one of its most powerful tools, Nutritional Genomics, otherwise known as Nutrigenomics. Nutrigenomics allows us to understand how our food and lifestyle affects how our genes express themselves. With the information from a genomic test obtained from a simple cheek swab, we can make better daily choices so we can optimize our health, stay healthy, and understand our unique bodies’ needs.

What Clients Have To Say

Pamela H.

I first saw Karin after she was recommended by another provider at North Idaho Acupuncture and Holistic Healing. With gastric problems starting in my teens, I had never received treatment other than scopes and numerous tests followed by some prescription or another. Through the years my symptoms worsened greatly. Dr. Toby got me started on a path to wellness about 10 years ago and Karin has greatly added to that holistic approach. After following her recommendations and treatment, I am better than I have ever been. Diverticulitis was so frequent with cramping and intestinal problems and she has set me on a path to wellness never experienced before. I would highly recommend her. Not only has her approach helped in so many ways, but she is caring, personable and listens.

Prior to meeting Karin, I was eating poorly and feeling the negative effects of that. Karin’s compassionate and intelligent/highly knowledgeable approach has been an incredible game-changer for my physical (and emotional!) health. I have immense gratitude for her guidance and encouragement – and her wealth of knowledge about how the body works and getting it back into balance.

I went to Karin when my Chronic Lyme disease was making it impossible to function. She was fantastic! She was a great listener and had me start on the Wahls protocol. Every two weeks we met and she’d teak my diet and supplements based on how my body was responding.  I’ve not felt so heard, cared for and helped by any other approach. I could feel and see a huge difference in just a few short months.

I can’t recommend Karin highly enough for anyone who wants an upgrade in their health. I went to her in a desperate state with puzzling symptoms that 25 different doctors (or “a great many doctors”) could not explain. She has a fresh approach and testing that revealed layers of issues with digestion, genetic problems, nutritional deficiencies, and more. After completing her 3 month program I am substantially better and feel confident I will still be seeing results as I follow the protocol she has mapped out for me. I would also send her fairly healthy folks (or “I would also recommend fairly healthy folks see her”) who just want to live a better life. The effort, cost, and time are worth it!!!

I have struggled with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Reynaud’s Disease, and 2 forms of cancer over the past 8 years. My body had been through so much and although I had as healthy of a lifestyle as I could given the necessary treatments and medications, I just could not get back to my pre cancer health. It came to a point where I could eat about 8 different options only or my body would become so inflamed and my joints were so painful that it was almost debilitating at times. I had given up on a lot of the activities that make me happy and keep me healthy.

I reached out to Karin after a referral from a friend. She worked with me for months on a long process to heal my body so I could return to a more normal way of life. The work was not easy and I had to make serious concessions and adjustments in my life for months. However, she laid out a plan, was empathetic to my concerns and she listened. Today I am 6 months out from our first appointment and can eat almost anything, and feel incredible most days. I still have some struggles that we are fine tuning but overall Karin helped me regain my health and active lifestyle back.

Karin is knowledgeable and has great follow-through with supplemental information.
