Who We Are

Who We Are And What We Do

I am Dr. Toby Hallowitz, a naturopathic medical doctor and acupuncturist trained in the classics of Chinese Medicine. I have been practicing holistic healing in Coeur d’Alene Idaho and Spokane Valley, WA for over 10 years now and have been in private practice since 2004.

CDA Acupuncture and Holistic Healing is an integrative health care clinic and center of healing resources focusing on holistic healing through the interconnectedness of the individual, families, community and our natural environment. With an emphasis on ``returning to nature`` we balance tried and true healing modalities of the past with evidence-based modern natural therapies.

As Naturopathic medical doctors, we are now fully licensed as primary care providers in Idaho, as we have been in Washington. This will allow for increased insurance coverage in Idaho.

In our lower level spaces we are now offering blood draws for our expanding list of laboratory services. Led by Brigitte, we hope to have our constitutional hydrotherapy center up and running very soon. Also, downstairs, we are working on setting up our Nutritional IV therapy area and a community room where we will be able to offer educational talks, therapeutic art sessions, yoga, qi gong, tai chi and meditation and other classes.

We are located extremely close to picturesque Tubbs Hill, a 120-acre park extending into lake Coeur d’Alene. Wanting to further utilize our proximity to this gorgeous and powerfully healing natural resource we are excited to be bringing on board Joseph McCaffrey to organize and run nature immersion retreats and provide nature-based soul work.

As we assist you on your healing journey, we invite you to join us as we explore ways to bring nature back into natural medicine.

In March of 2020, at the start of the pandemic, we moved into our beautiful new, large office space on Sherman Avenue in downtown Couer d’Alene. This was certainly an interesting time to grow and expand on the services we provide. As a clinic and as individuals, like most people during this time, we have had our own trials and tribulations. This has forced me to look inside and determine what is most important in the work that I do. This introspection brought me back to focusing on my passion and what inspired me to enter this profession and to become a healer.

I was very sick with Crohn’s disease and had an amazing healing experience in the mountains of Tirol, Austria where my wife Brigitte grew up. This experience I detail in a video which can be watched here and highlighted in my Chinese medicine thesis. Medications were not helping me and I was sick, miserable and at a loss of what to do. My powerful healing experience on the Alm, immersed in nature, set me on the course to study and the learn the various ways nature heals. Over the past couple of decades, I have been helping patients heal by tapping into the healing power of nature from the office setting.

I have long recognized the importance of nature immersion, and I now want to expand the focus of my practice and this clinic by assisting patients and this community further experience the powerful healing capabilities of developing an intimate, deep relationship with nature.
